If you were to split the year into thirds, the last third would be my favorite. Once September hits, I’m like a little kid again. Fall is my favorite season, I love the harvest time, and Halloween is clearly the best day of the year. I could give or take Thanksgiving, although I do love the yearly reminder to everyone to be a little more grateful. But as soon as Thanksgiving is over, and the Christmas season really kicks into high gear, I’m thrilled. Quality time with family, yummy food and cozy sweaters, and the crafting – oh my god, all the crafting! And baking! Gift giving is one of my favorite things.

In f act, if I had one complaint about this time of year, it would be the heavy commercialism. The spirit of the holiday season really is being corroded by comsumerism and the constant reminders to BUY BUY BUY to show you really care. That isn’t what gift giving is about. That’s not what Yule, Christmas, and all the other end of year holidays are all about. We’re losing the gratitude amongst all the materialism.

That’s why I was so excited to learn about the #GoodKarmaSale and be able to participate this year. Instead of giving in to offering Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday deals, businesses commit to donate a portion (usually 5-10%) of sales to a charity of their choice. You can still offer whatever deals you see fit, but the general intent of the day/s is to give back, not to take.

From Friday to Monday, The Poor Apothecary will be offering special deals and flash sales, and each day will feature a new charity to receive 10% of that day’s proceeds. Make sure to stay tuned to our Facebook page to keep up with the updates all weekend long!

Happy holiday season, lovelies. Be well!
